Lim Chu Kang Fishing

Went to Lim Chu Kang area to fish again... Im beginning to love freshwater. As usual used catfish. I tried popping but no fish was caught. I changed my rig to a catfish and threw. Still no fish. Then I saw a group of juvenile toman and cast out straight on them as their mother would be around to protect them. I wasnt expecting a bite so I turned around to talk. Just as I was turning back, I saw my whole rod was flying through the air. It went into the water. What to do? I jumped into the water and reeled up the Toman. Success! 6Kg on the scales. My father had a bite but his line broke. Sad. Anyway pictures for browsing!

In Lim Chu Kang

Went to Lim Chu Kang again but different area to fish. It is much more productive... well anyway we ate breakfast outside. We went inside armed with catfish, two multipliers and three reels. We cast out. My father was the first to reel back a Toman. 1.5kg on the scales. I played popping for about half an hour before leaving it and took my handline. I attached a large catfish and loooked around as there were various spots. I went to a secluded area at a drain but i didn cast out as my fathers friends wife had a bite. suddenly her drag screamed. her line moved away. She reeled back a baby toman. couldn wait. I cast out and waited as she went to dig for worms as that was the last catfish. Suddenly, I heard a buzzing sound. my line was paying. Shit. I pulled back as the fish was going underneath the grass. Worse I was using a handline. It was a 20 minutes fight as I finally reeled back my catch. It was a 3kg snakehead. That size was RARE. Hahar. Pictures for your browsing.

Fishing in Lim Chu Kang

Went to Lim Chu Kang freshwater area to fish. You dont need an offroad vehicle but you gotta trek in. It is one hell of a dangerous. You are at the side of the river and you gotta walk over a pipe and fish from there. I nearly fell in myself; but we were rewarded for our efforts. We got two baby Toman, and a proper 4kg Toman. The baby Toman were hooked on an eel rig while the bigger one took the popper.

Tanah Merah Fishing part 2

I have really come to love this place. theres all sorts of fishes here. Just went on an overnight fishing trip. We arrived at the area at about 4.30 and started fishing. No fish. I pulled the leader up, and changed the bait to a live prawn. Not even after 5 min, the rod bent. I pulled, alas, the fish went in between the stones and i could not retrieve it.(shit) I broke the line and used a metal rig. I cast the rod again then went out on the offroad vehicle(honestly, i drove.) to fetch other people in. When I came back in(i didn use the offroad vehicle. this time, i used an ATV.) Once I reached there, I reeled my line back in. No fish. Rig gone. I tied a float, cast it and went to sleep as it was about 3 am. Woke up about 4.30, still no fish. I then used a bounce and retrieve Pioneer rig. At last, results. I caught a medium-sized catfish. The night dragged on, leaving me with a 5kg snapper and a 3kg catfish. I caught during the night so i couldn take any photos. In the morning, we used a spinnerbait as it was high tide and there were loads of fish. Unfortunately, noone caught any. This is one of the best fishing trips I had.

Fishing at Marina South Pier

At last... a site you can access without an offroad vehicle... Just walk in. I wouldnt recommend you this site because ther a lot of rocks and no fish. I went there for 5 hrs and i only caught one small fish. There are loads of fishermen there but they could not catch anything. I also saw a cast net fisherman. This method supposedly works very well but he didn catch any fish. No picture unfortunately

Fishing in Kallang

Just went inside a Kallang construction site to fish.. actually i did this before that 1.5kg catch, but i posted it late.never mind. I dunno why its such a coincidence, but, as usual, you cannot get in without an offroad vehicle.:). Anyway Its just a deserted area, like a beach, theres sand, rocks all that kind of stuff, but one thing good is that, your hook will NEVER get caught. We used a sabiki fishing rig, which consists of around 6-8 hooks with coloured plastic stuck on them. We used a cut worm for each of them. Their hooks are the smallest in the market, being as small as a staple. But they are REALLY effective. One fishing trip of about 4 hrs could end up with a catch of about 65 smelt fish. What my father's friend tried was different. He used a big hook, and ended up catching a pufferfish. He had to cut the line and throw it back anyway. After that, we went off had dinner and came back again. This time he caught a stingray. Again he threw it back. Even though i did not catch any big fish, I consider worth the time as i ate all the smelt. The whole fish can be eaten.

Tanah Merah Fishing

Haha... you cant get into the fishing site without an offroad vehicle...Its just next to the runway at changi.we took about 45 mins to get inside.(oof, my butt was itchy during the ride). Once we reached there we found some wild dogs there. they didn disturb us though. I tied my leader, used a live prawn, cast the line and let the prawn swim around with a deadly hook embedded in its body. I waited for a while... No bite. I reeled the line in. Suddenly, The rod bent. Shit. The hook got stuck on a stone. The place is full of stones man. I broke the leader and went to tie a new one. I cast out. Same result. No bite, got stuck on stone. I wanted to catch a big fish, probably a grouper or snapper(ang go li) and i was getting frustrated. My father and friend had not caught anything either. I took a risk, tied a Storm Rubber fish lure with rattle chamber and played with it. No bite, but it did not get stuck on any stone. I moved my tackle to the center(the area is shaped like a horseshoe. Haha! got a bite. I pulled, pulled and pulled. I caught the fish in 15minutes. It was a good 1.5 kg. Not bad for a 12 year old.It was a wild snapper!(My profile picture with the lure in the mouth). I could have caught it earlier but i was us ing a 20lb mono filament line and a telescopic rod and i didn want to break it. When I saw the fish swimming near the stones with the lure inside, seemingly like nothing happened, I gave the rod a hefty pull... and up it came. Haha....
